Strength | Mobility | Balance

Pilates can change how you move and feel in your body! It is an exercise method that targets the deep postural muscles, building strength from the inside out and helping to rebalance the body by bringing it into correct alignment. The exercises are designed to improve your posture and how you move in your everyday life.   They are a balance between strength and flexibility, and it is a great way to relieve unwanted stress and tension.

Levels

  • DISCLAIMER FOR ONLINE CLASSES

    By taking part in an online Pilates class, you fully understand that your teacher is not able to offer any personal correction; you agree to take responsibility for your own body; you agree not to perform any exercises or movements that may cause you discomfort; and you confirm that you are fit and able to join the class. You must ensure that you are working in a safe environment and that you are able to clearly see and/or hear your teacher in order to follow instructions. It is your responsibility to let the teacher know before the class if anything affects your ability to exercise that day. By joining the class you automatically agree to waive all statutory rights against your teacher.
  • Beginners

    Designed to teach the principles of Body Control Pilates method including alignment, centering, breathing and co-ordination.
  • Improvers

    After completing a beginners course, building on the foundations and adding new exercises.
  • Gentle

    For those wanting to take their Pilates at a slower pace in order to just keep mobile. Modifications and adaptations made for age related conditions (eg. joint replacements and arthritis).
  • Level 1

    Starting to add flowing movement to exercises and developing strength.
  • Level 2

    In this course we are refining technique and developing endurance introducing some intermediate & advanced mat exercises.
  • Level 3

    An intermediate course, covering some of the more advanced classical mat exercises using much more abdominal strength.
  • Private

    Private lessons designed specifically for you and your requirements. Private lessons can be booked on a one-to-one basis or within a friends and family group.

Victoria Baker

I qualified with Body Control Pilates in August 2010 as a Level 3 Pilates Matwork Instructor.  Every year I take extra courses and workshops as part of my continued professional development with Body Control Pilates and other teachers that are inspiring.  I particularly enjoy all things anatomical and in 2019 I spent a week at the Icahnn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai Hospital, New York on an ‘Functional Anatomy for Movement & Injuries’ course.  Whilst in New York I also took the opportunity to visit a number of prominent Pilates studios and teachers which was both eye opening and inspirational.
